Description
This year marks 400 years since enslaved Africans were brought to North America by British colonists in 1619. On August 25, national parks across the country will honor those who suffered under this institution and acknowledge the continuous battle for equality that extends until this day.
Join us at Mission San José on August 25 to participate in this commemoration. Beginning at 1:30, Park Rangers will offer a free ranger program, poem reading, music, and bell ringing. The bells at Mission San José will sound for four minutes, one minute for every century since the enslavement of Africans began in British North America.
