Native Flute, Chants, Heart Songs, & Legends with Karen

First State National Historical Park

  • Every week on Tuesday at 11:00 AM from July 06, 2021 to August 31, 2021
  • Free
In recognition of the welcome and acceptance the Lenape peoples extended to the those who landed here in 1638 on the Kalmar Nyckel, we offer a tribute to Native American culture with Native American style flute music by Karen Moore.

The Native American flute is one of the oldest instruments in the world. Almost every culture has a type of flute that is indigenous to them. Every Native American tribe has legends about the origin of the flute. It is considered a sacred instrument and has been used for prayer, healing, courting, and entertainment. Karen will play some Native American chants, and her prayerful heart songs interspersed with telling the legends from the different tribes.
