The Roving Ranger mobile visitor center will visit Machicomoco State Park for a pop-up program focused on Indigenous and Colonial ways of living along the waterways of the Chesapeake Bay. Drop-by anytime during the event and stay as long as you like! Participate in an informal talk from our rangers, and join us in hands-on demonstrations showing how the Bay's natural materials were used and harvested historically.

In this pop-up activity, we will explore Indigenous and colonial ways of navigating and mapping the Bay's waters. Discover how Native people made use of the Chesapeake's abundant natural resources, and how these resources are still important today. Stop by to chat with a National Park Service ranger about this and other topics, take home a trail map, participate in the Junior Ranger program, or even learn if you qualify for a free National Park pass!
