Skills and Trades of the Encampment

When: Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 10am to 4pm

Where: Muhlenberg's Brigade (Tour Stop 2)

The Living History Society of New Jersey will demonstrate different trades reflected in the skill sets and knowledge of the general soldiery and followers of the army encamped at Valley Forge.

Learn about the construction of overalls and uniforms, mending soldier’s clothing, leatherworking such as creation of cartridge boxes, shoes, harness and tack for horses, and carpentry, including the creation of crates and other wood products, and the sewing of [market] wallets and women’s clothing.
