Description

June marks the celebration of Pride month! This year Congaree is teaming up with the Columbia Audubon Society to give a program based on Audubon's “Lets Go Birding Together” series.

This hike will last two hours and we will cover around 2 miles of trail. Come learn about birds, the National Park Services role in Pride Month, and practice mindfulness activities with us.

Lets Go Birding Together walks are for everyone who loves birds and the great outdoors. We welcome those who identify as LGBTQ+, allies, families, and anyone who loves to celebrate inclusivity and diversity in the outdoors.

Why? Because historically the outdoors hasn’t always been a welcoming place for people in this community and to people of color, The National Park Service and Audubon want to help change that.

All levels of birder are welcome! If you don’t have binoculars, don’t worry, you can borrow a pair from us.

Things to Know:

- All participants must have a reservation through Eventbrite in order to join our program.

- The program will be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather and if there is a low number of sign-ups.

- During this time of year, the weather is expected to be hot and humid, please dress in clothing that allows you to be comfortable in the heat and shoes that are comfortable to hike in. Make sure to bring a water bottle with you and anything else you might need for our hike.
