Description

Come join the Cherokee Recreation District in Gaffney, South Carolina as they christen their new trail!

The Cherokee Ford Trail is the newest certified segment of the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail and is composed of a 1-mile loop of natural surface trail through the forested banks of the Broad River. This is the area where in the morning of October 7, 1780, 910 Patriot horsemen crossed the river and continued to close-in on the camp of Patrick Ferguson and the Battle of Kings Mountain.

There will be a small opening ceremony with remarks at 3:00pm followed by an optional guided hike of the 1-mile trail.

Parking is available at the gravel trailhead on Wolf Den Lane, and additional parking is at the Ford Road Recreation Complex located beside Wolf Den Lane.
