Description

Bunker Hill Day is an important part of the nation’s commemoration of the American Revolutionary War. For two and half centuries, Americans have created a compelling narrative of that war, the founding of our nation, down to the very appearance of a true American patriot. How does that narrative change when we insert patriots of color as equal and necessary partners? Black and indigenous militia men such as Jude Hall, Cuff Whittemore, and Barzillai Lew made up a significant part of the army fighting for Independence. Join us to discuss how these three memorable participants in the Battle of Bunker Hill laid an equal claim to the country they helped create on this 246th Anniversary of the battle.
