Join the National Park Service and our park partners Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy, American Littoral Society, New York City Bird Alliance and New York City Plover Project for the 8th Annual Raptorama at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge!
Meet at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center to learn all about the birds of prey of Jamaica Bay. See some amazing raptors up close during two live demonstrations led by the Wildlife Center of Long Island and go on walks with park rangers and partners to look at the raptors that traveling through Jamaica Bay on their fall migration. Park partners and other organizations will have family-friendly activities available at tables outside of the visitor center.
9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Visitor center & restrooms open
10 a.m.: Raptor talk in visitor center multipurpose room (led by American Littoral Society)
11 a.m.: Live raptor demonstration (led by Wildlife Center of Long Island)
12 p.m.: Bilingual Bird Walk (led by Latino Outdoors)
12:15 p.m.: Live raptor demonstration (led by Wildlife Center of Long Island)
1 p.m.: Junior Ranger Walk (led by National Park Service)
Ongoing activities: Stop at the Junior (Raptor) Ranger table to grab an activity book, then explore and earn your Junior Ranger badge!
Participate in activities with our partners and friends in the tabling area out front of the visitor center!
Borrow binoculars for free at the visitor center desk to observe raptors during peak migration!
