Description

The Rise of the Strawberry Moon over Lilly Bluff

Join our ranger for a night hike on June 23rd at 8:00 p.m. (ET) on an easy out-and-back hike of 0.6 miles total on the Overlook Trail to enjoy the rise of the nearly-full Strawberry Moon over the Clear Creek Gorge, viewed from the Lilly Bluff Overlook.

The Overlook Trail leads through a peaceful hemlock forest where visitors can enjoy the sounds and smells of evening darkness before emerging out onto the boardwalk overlook at Lilly Bluff.  From the overlook, visitors can enjoy a spectacular view of the nearly-full Strawberry Moon as it rises in the eastern sky over the river gorge.  You won't want to miss this opportunity to enjoy nature at night in an International Dark Sky Park!

Participants should meet at the Lilly Overlook Picnic Area parking lot at 8:00 p.m. (ET) on June 23rd.  The picnic area is located just after crossing the Lilly Bridge on Ridge Road in Morgan County, Tennessee.

Please bring a headlamp or flashlight.  Well-behaved dogs on a leash are also welcome.
