Description
Join rangers for a trip through natural beauty and cultural history! The Rocky Falls to Klepzig Mill hike passes a variety of landscapes, giving a peek into the agricultural past of the Ozarks.
While mostly flat, this hike is anything but lackluster. The Rocky Creek area offers a wonderful selection of fall colors, small creeks, and more. Woodland environments provide beautiful hues in fall, and active creeks allow wildlife to flourish.
After parking at Rocky Falls, there will be a shuttle ride to Klepzig Mill. Rangers will interpret geologic and man-made features here, then the hike will begin. Hikers will enjoy 3 miles of pleasant, scenic woodland before reaching Rocky Falls. Visitors who wish to hike further can venture down the Ozark Trail or scramble along the falls themselves. The shuttle is available free-of-charge.
The Ozark Trail between Klepzig Mill and Rocky Falls is relatively flat and easy, with some stretches of moderate incline. All visitors should bring water, a snack/lunch, and sturdy hiking boots or shoes. Bug spray and sunscreen are also highly recommended. There are a few shallow water crossings along this trail, so hikers may want waterproof boots.
