Stories of Service and Sacrifice: Artillery at the Battle of Stones River
Special Event
Artillery played a key role in making the Battle of Stones River a U.S. victory that supported the Emancipation Proclamation and set our nation on a course to eliminate slavery and take a step toward meeting the founding principles of our nation. That victory came at a high cost.
Join us near the park visitor center as we celebrate July 4th with our own brand of fireworks at 11 AM, 1 PM and 3 PM. Each program will feature our volunteer crew firing a cannon and include a story drawn from our Stories of Service and Sacrifice project focused on cannoneers who gave their life for our nation and rest today in Stones River National Cemetery.
