Description
Come join the Rangers at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens as they lead a 15-20 minute talk about Helen Fowler in honor of Women's History Month. Afterwards take a step into one of the historic hothouses that was built and used by Helen Fowler and the Shaw Gardens to cultivate tropical waterlilies.
Affectionately known as the "Water Lily Lady," Helen Fowler was the daughter of Walter B. Shaw, the founder of Shaw Gardens. She shared her father's passion for cultivating water lilies and lotuses and played a major role throughout her life in expanding the business, popularizing water gardens in the 20th century, and transforming her family's business into what is now Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens.
