Peterson Yazzie, Diné painter, sculptor, and educator

Tuesday and Wednesday  — March 11, 12, 2025: 9 am to 4 pm each day.

  • Peterson Yazzie, a Diné painter, sculptor, and educator, creates art deeply influenced by his culture and personal journey. His paintings start with an intuitive splash of paint, evolving through experimentation, while his wooden wall sculptures, often embellished with feathers, embody his open and exploratory approach. For Peterson, art is a guiding force that brings balance to life’s energies and strengthens his connection to the world—a connection he holds with deep gratitude.

  • The Cultural Demonstration program provides an opportunity for park visitors and community members to interact with Indigenous artisans and educators - and for them to share their cultural history and stories, along with the skills and knowledge involved in creating their art.
  • This series is made possible with grants from Grand Canyon Conservancy.
