Celebrate General George Washington's Birthday With Us!

Did you know that the first public celebration of Washington's birthday was at Valley Forge in 1778? Join Mrs. Washington, members of the Continental Army, and others to celebrate His Excellency's 287th birthday this President's Day. Produced in conjunction with the Valley Forge Park Alliance, Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board, and The Encampment Store.

Meet George and Martha Washington

Reenactors portraying the General and Lady Washington will be available for pictures and conversation. In heated tent.

Birthday Cards for the General

Kids can show their appreciation to George Washington by creating a Birthday Card for him.

Join the Continental Army!
11:00 AM - 12:00
Kids can enlist into the Continental Army, learn basic marching steps, and get reviewed by the Commander-in-Chief himself! Enlistment begins in the Heated Tent at 10:00. All recruits muster for training outside Heated Tent at 11:00, to be marched up to the Mini Grand Parade Ground (just above old Visitor Center) for training.

Get a free cupcake from the Culinary Institute and hear an address from the George and Martha Washington.
NOTE: Soldiers First! Participants in the Join the Continental Army program will gain first access to cupcakes.

Ranger-led Walk
1:00 PM - 1:40
Finish off your celebration with a free ranger-guided walk to the Mulhenberg Brigade Huts led by a Park Ranger. Meet the Ranger just in front of the Temporary Visitor Center, covers ¼ mile in length and should take approximately 40 minutes. Tour begins at 1:00, or immediately after birthday celebration if event runs late.

Don't forget to visit Washington's Headquarters and the Muhlenberg Brigade Huts, open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Junior Ranger Program | All Day
Visit the Visitor Center Front Desk and speak to a ranger about becoming an official National Park Service Junior Ranger.
