Description

The Murphy Trail parking lot is about to be expanded and paved. Join rangers to help salvage and relocate native plants from the construction zone before the paving begins.

The project area features diverse native plants, such as fishhook cactus, Indian ricegrass, needle-and-thread grass, and galletta grass. The fishhook cactus will be transplanted to the visitor center area; other plant species may be available for volunteers to adopt.

Volunteers should wear/bring sun protection, water, and snacks. Tools will be provided, but volunteers may also bring their own gloves, spades, and 1.5 gallon (1.5 L) pots.

The NPS staff team will work until around noon. Volunteers are welcome to help for as briefly or as long as they would like.

Please RSVP with Sofia Nicholson by June 8. Also, if you can't attend the event but are interested in adopting plants, please contact Sofia and you'll be added to a list.
