A commemoration of the Juneteenth holiday, celebrating the end of slavery in America at the conclusion of the Civil War, with tours and re-enactments, featuring a 1 PM performance of spirituals by acclaimed bass baritone singer Ronald Campbell, accompanied by keyboard.  Full program is below:

A celebration of the Juneteenth holiday

Friday, June 19, 2026. We are open all day, 10 AM to 5 PM.   

Schedule of special events

11:30 AM: A performance and sing-along of Songs of the Civil War, with historical commentary, in the museum.

1 PM: A program in the church with a brief talk recognizing the holiday which celebrates the end of slavery in Texas in June 1865, at the conclusion of the Civil War.  This will include a reading of the official emancipation proclamation that was issued in Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865.  A feature of the program in the church will be a performance of spirituals by acclaimed bass baritone singer Ronald Campbell, accompanied by Dante Harrell on keyboard.

1:30 PM (approximately) A walking tour of the historic cemetery, led by St. Paul's living historian Mike  Grillo, placing wreaths at the graves of two Black veterans of Civil War regiments that were stationed in Texas in June of 1865.

Living history demonstrations throughout the day at the western side of the church.
