Description
Step back in history and rediscover the thriving community of Four Locks fostered by canal commerce at 10:30 am, on Saturday, October 14. Join a guide for a one-half mile, round trip walk around the area that once boasted several stores, a school, post office, and other local enterprises. While today in Four Locks, only a lockhouse, the stonework of four canal locks and a few residences still exist, the program will attempt to “repaint” a busy village tied together with workings of the canal that flowed through it.
Participants should meet at the Four Locks boat ramp parking lot in the which is located near Clear Springs, Maryland. The boat ramp can be reached by turning onto Four Locks Road off Maryland Route 56; driving 0.6 miles, and bearing right onto Starliper Road. Then, drive though the culvert to the boat ramp parking lot.
