Description

 10:00 am: Cavalry Demonstration (Tour Stop #4) 
    This presentation will include field maneuvers demonstrating cavalry tactics and weapons firings. The                   company will also peerform saber drill, demonstrating the cavalryman's ability to used the edged weapon           both offensively and defensively. 

 

10:30 am: Artillery Demonstration (Visitor Center)
     This presentation will discuss the types of cannon and ammunition used during the Civil War and the steps         necessary to load and fire a cannon. Firings will demonstrate firing by gun and section. 

 

11:00 am: Civil War Era Baseball Game (Tour Stop #4)
     Come view a vintage  baseball between the Quicksteps Club of Spring Hill vs. the Pheonix of East Nashville.       See baseball as the soldiers knew it and played it using the 1864 rule book. Teams are associated with the           Tennessee Association of Vintage Baseball.  

 

11:30 am: Civil War Music (Visitor Center)
    The 52nd String band will provide the public with a glimpse into the everyday life of the Civil War soldier             through music. The program will present a mixture of popular and patriotic songs which would have been           played by regimental bands and sung in camp.

     Come and view a vintage baseball game between the Franklin Farriers and the Stones River Scouts.  See               baseball as the soldiers knew it and played it using the 1864 game rules.  Teams are associated with The               Tennessee Association of Vintage Baseball.

*Inclement weather will cancel outdoor programs.                                                                                          
*Black powder weapons produce loud noise; be mindful of your hearing, especially children.                
*Pets are permitted only on a leash.  Be aware that loud noises might frighten animals.                           
*Be cautious around horses, fire pits, and camp equipage.
