Earth Week Outdoors in June - Volunteer Project

Stones River National Battlefield

Special Event
  • Jun 26, 2025 at 9:00 AM
  • Free

Since our Earth Week Outdoors event was rained out, Stones River National Battlefield is joining Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation and Outdoor Murfreesboro Natural Resources for another try on Thursday June 26, 2025 from 9 AM to 12 PM. Help us manage the battlefield's natural resources by removing invasive shrubs (Amur honeysuckle and Chinese privet). Your work will increase species richness by increasing light availability and decreasing competition in the forest understory.

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to participate in this event. Registration is required and can be done online at https://forms.office.com/g/xLzKhtWzCR.

Volunteers must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. We recommend wearing long sleeve shirts and bringing a water bottle. The park will provide the necessary equipment and supplies, but you are welcome to bring your own work gloves and loppers.

Volunteers will park in the gravel overflow/recreational user lot and meet at the visitor center flagpole.
