Description

There will be no fireworks at Mount Rushmore National Memorial this year.

July 3rd

Day Activities:

  • Cultural demonstrators Darrell Red Cloud and Sequoia Crosswhite will be giving programs from 9:30 am to 4:15 pm at the Lakota, Nakota, and Dakota Heritage Village.

  • Hoop Dance performed by Jasmine Bell on the Grand View Terrace at 9:30 am and 2:00 pm.

  • Presidential News Conference at 9:30 a.m. with George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.

  • Throughout the day, the presidents will be greeting visitors, giving autographs, and performing programs.

Evening Activities:

  • 6:15 pm: Welcome speech by Superintendent Michelle Wheatley followed by a Junior Ranger Ceremony.

  • 6:30 pm: Performance by United States Air Force Heartland of America Band.

  • 7:15 pm: Military programming consiting of an enlistment ceremony and other activities.

  • 8:15 pm: Performance by United States Air Force Heartland of America Band.

  • 9:00 pm: Lakota Flag Song performed by Darrell Red Cloud.

  • 9:08 pm: Sculpture Lighting and National Anthem.

July 4th
