VJ Day: The War’s End in Oak Ridge [Oak Ridge, TN]
On August 14, 1945, as Japan announced their willingness to surrender, thousands of Oak Ridgers flocked to Jackson Square to celebrate the end of World War II. After four long years of fighting, many were overcome with emotion.
