Ranger-Led Hike: Vickery Creek Ridgetop & Magnolias

Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area

  • Aug 24, 2025 at 9:00 AM
  • Free

Join the National Park Service for a scenic and enriching hike through one of the most ecologically diverse areas of the park. This moderately strenuous loop winds through oak-hickory ridge forest, lush mesic woodlands, and the ridge top trail perched above the dramatic slopes of the Vickery Creek Ravine.

Along the way, we’ll encounter towering native Umbrella Magnolias, delicate ferns, vibrant wildflowers, and hardy ridge-top plants that thrive in shallow soils and dry cliffside conditions. It’s a living classroom of Georgia’s native flora, offering a glimpse into how plant communities adapt to elevation, moisture, and terrain. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a curious nature lover, this trail is a hidden gem worth discovering.
