A native to Maryland, Benjamin Banneker is known as the “first African American man of science.” Banneker (November 9, 1731 – October 9, 1806) was a free African American scientist, surveyor, almanac author and farmer. Born in Baltimore County, Maryland, to a free African American woman and a former slave. Master Storyteller and former president of the Griots’ Circle of Maryland Inc., Bob Smith will bring Banneker to life while dressed in period attire. 

Seating for this program will be limited. Admission and parking are free on a first come, first serve basis. ADA accessible. Reservations are not required and will not be taken.
