Join us for celebrating the 200th birthday of Ulysses S. Grant with a variety of free activities and presentations.
General Grant (Stan Prater) will welcome visitors as they arrive for the presentations at 10:30 am and 11:30 am.
9 am – 11:30 am Suzanne Corbett, food historian and food ways interpreter, will engage visitors in a casual conversation on period cakes and table etiquette in the dining room of White Haven.
10:30 am - "The Importance of St. Louis to Ulysses S. Grant" by Park Ranger Nick Sacco
11:30 am -- "Reluctant Hero: The Public Service of Ulysses S. Grant" by Ulysses S. Grant Association Board Member John Samson
Throughout the day you can help make cards for veterans in Missouri veterans’ homes, in honor of Grant’s bicentennial.
That evening, the Independent Silver Band will perform late 19th century music on the park’s ground for a free, one-hour concert, beginning at 6:30 pm. Outside food and beverages are allowed on the park grounds. (Glass is prohibited.) Bring a chair or blanket.
This bicentennial program is presented in partnership with the Ulysses S. Grant Association/Mississippi State University.
