Description

“In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks.” ~John Muir

Become an “Art-ologist” at Hopewell Culture National Historical Park.  Join us as we walk the trail around Mound City Group looking carefully at the unique beauty of the fall nature, learn real observation skills and reflect on the life of the people who lived here 2,000 years ago.

Students will learn how to make a collection of botanical sketches and create their first “botanical journal.”  Our park volunteer, artist Pam Ballard, will facilitate this new art program teaching students drawing skills such as shapes, shading, perspective, and other important artistic details.  No prior art experience is required and all levels are invited to participate.

Registration is required to participate in this event. Parents must call to register their student at 740-774-1126.  Students must be between the ages of 11 - 14 years old (6th -9th grade).  Parents must remain on site with their child.  This event is free and all materials will be provided.  Space is limited to 10 students maximum and all students that begin will participate in future events in this series.
