Description
Come join the rangers at the Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor Center at Milepost 384 on Founders Day! The National Park Service was founded on August 25, 1916. And while we may be a few days early, we’d love for you to come celebrate with us. Tell us what your favorite park is, learn more about our particular park, and maybe plan your next adventure!
Talks
NPS staff will be rotating between informal tables and formal programs throughout the day, so there will be a lot of variety! If you want to join a ranger to learn about park animals, regional ecology, scenic design, local traditions and more, staff are presenting at the following times:
- 9:45 am
- 11:00 am
- 1:30 pm
- 3:15 pm
Hike at 10:15 am
Need some time outdoors? There will be a guided hike at 10:15 am along a 1.4 mile loop trail. The trail does have some roots, rocks, and elevation change, but is moderately easy for a mountainous area. Please wear closed toed shoes, dress appropriately for the weather, and bring water—it’s still hot outside!
