Description

On Saturday, August 3, Aztec Ruins National Monument will offer a hands-on yucca cordage workshop.
Yucca was an integral part of life in the American Southwest and used to make anything from sandals to rope and everything in between. Join Ranger Justin as he teaches you step by step how to make a short length of yucca cord from harvesting to the finished product.
The program is open to everyone, but since materials are limited, we can only supply the first 25 people who sign up with yucca.

The program will begin at 10:30 AM in the picnic area, and it will last approximately 60 minutes. Participants should bring water and sun protection as this program will be held outside.
If interested, call the Aztec Ruins Visitor Center at (505) 334-6174 to reserve a space. The program is free of charge, but those wishing to make cordage should bring a common metal teaspoon or tablespoon to scrape the yucca leaves.

Reservation or Registration: Yes

The program is limited to 25 participants. To guarantee your spot call 505 334-6174.
