Merry Meteor Shower and Stargazing

El Malpais National Monument park rangers will host an evening of stargazing on Friday, December 12, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the El Malpais Visitor Center. In addition to looking at deep sky objects through a telescope, visitors can scan the skies for meteors from the Geminid Meteor Shower, which will reach its peak on December 13-14. This is a come and go event, so stop by anytime to learn about our incredible night sky. The El Malpais Visitor Center is located at 1900 E. Santa Fe Ave in Grants. Gates open at 5:45 pm.
This is an outdoor program, so please dress in warm layers and plan for cold weather. Visitors may bring chairs and blankets to sit on. Program is weather dependent.
