161st Anniversary of the Battle of Monocacy
The Battle of Monocacy, known as “The Battle That Saved Washington”, took place on July 9, 1864, as part of the third and final Confederate campaign into Maryland. On July 12 -13 Monocacy National Battlefield will commemorate the 161th Anniversary of the Battle of Monocacy with a special event weekend that will include infantry and artillery demonstrations, civil war period music, ranger programs, and special guest programming.

All firing demonstrations will be at the Monocacy National Battlefield Visitors Center, located at 5201 Urbana Pike, Frederick, MD 21704.

Firing demonstrations of both infantry and artillery will occur at 11am, 1pm & 3pm on July 12. On Sunday, July 13 the firing demonstrations begin at 11am, 1pm & 3pm.
