Description
Join Shiloh National Military Park for a special Junior Ranger camp on Saturday, October 7th. We will be learning how to become Civil War Signal Corps Soldiers. Each Junior Ranger will receive a Shiloh Signaleer Junior Ranger Patch!
The United States Signal Corps was established just before the start of the Civil War. President James Buchanan signed the signal corps appropriations bill it into law on June 21, 1860, the date now celebrated as the birthday of the modern U.S. Army Signal Corps. This branch of the army used the telegraph and “Wigwag” flag signaling to communicate strategic and tactical information long distances.
The program starts at our Shiloh Visitor Center at 10:00 am and will end at 12:00 pm.
Participation in this camp is free to registered Junior Rangers and their guardians, so don’t wait, register today by calling 731-689-5696. We are limited to only 50 Junior Rangers (parents and guardians are always welcome but are NOT counted as part of the 50) for this camp, so sign up today!
