The Prohibition Era

Congaree National Park

Special Event

A century ago, the Volstead Act and the 18th Amendment  went into effect, thus starting the era of Prohibition. Prohibition was a turbulent time defined by speakeasies and moonshiners, gangsters like Al Capone and federal revenue agents such as Elliot Ness trying to bring them down. Come and learn about how deep it goes as you are transported back to the Roaring 20's to examine the roots, causes, enforcement, and the failures of the Prohibition Era. Interpretive talks are scheduled for 10am, 11am, 2pm and 3pm. For questions or more information, please contact us by phone or by email.
