In celebration of the 144th Anniversary of the Birth of Mary McLeod Bethune, the National Park Serivce and the Mary McLeod Bethune Council House National Historic Site are offering a book talk, featuring Dr. Rebecca Tuuri, Associate Professor of History in the School of Humanities at the University of Southern Mississippi.  Dr. Tuuri will discuss her recent book "Strategic Sisterhood: The National Council of Negro Women in the Black Freedom Struggle," which higlight's the National Council of Negro Women's (founded by Bethune in 1935) behind-the-scenes efforts to fight racism, poverty, and sexism in the late tentieth century.  Books will be available for purchase in site bookstore.
