Evening of Lights

Aztec Ruins National Monument

Special Event
  • Dec 7, 2018 at 6:00 PM
  • Free

Aztec Ruins will glow at the annual Evening of Lights. This is the one night of the year when the archeological site is illuminated at night, and everyone is encouraged to drop in anytime between 6pm-8pm. A display of hundreds of luminarias will guide you to the site, where 100+ lanterns will illuminate the Aztec West Great House. Your visit concludes with complimentary cookies and hot cocoa in a heated event tent, and a walk back through the luminarias to return to your vehicle. In addition, the park store will have a store-wide 15% off sale.

Parking can be a challenge during this event, so look for our friendly parking crew to point the way. Be prepared to walk in some areas that are dark - flashlights are recommended. In the event that parking is completely full, consider parking in an open space on an adjacent street, or parking near the Old Spanish Trail bridge and walking the 1/2 mile trail to access the site.

Photography is welcome. Extra warm clothing and flashlights are recommended.
