Description
Grand Witness Public Art Installation – by Artist in Residence sTo Len at Grand Canyon Visitor Center Sphere Room
From Thursday, April 17, through Sunday, April 20, anytime between 10 am to 2 pm, the artist will be present to engage audiences in conversation and activate a video portrait series that uses a green screen to place them in various sites and moments in the park’s history, blurring the timeline while creating new memories for visitors to take home.
Grand Witness is a visual collage of archival film footage from the Grand Canyon’s Museum Collection, tracing a dream-like timeline from the canyon’s formation to its Indigenous history and designation as a National Park. As the current Artist in Residence, sTo Len explores the archive, the land, and its people through hikes, drawings, and multimedia work. His art reflects on collective memory, our connection to place, and the canyon’s enduring presence across time.
The program is free of charge. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
