Lunar Eclipse Hike

Golden Gate National Recreation Area

  • Jan 20, 2019 at 6:30 PM
  • Free

Join us for a hike to a nearby peak to observe the Total Lunar Eclipse – where the Earth’s shadow turns our normally bright full moon into a “blood moon”.   Along the way, we’ll make stops to learn more about some of the local night-time inhabitants of the Marin Headlands – including the great horned owl, the coyote, and the bobcat.

This is a three hour, five-mile hike. Dress in warm layers and bring a flashlight, water, and snack.  The hike is family friendly but the trail does have steep portions.  Meet at Tennessee Valley trailhead.   Rain cancels. Reservations required, please call the Marin Headlands Visitor Center at (415) 331-1540.  Max 20 participants.
