Description

For the past 45 years or so there have been partisan accusations that the President of the United States is relying on powers beyond what’s allowed by the U.S. Constitution. Historian Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. called it “The Imperial Presidency.” Join two well-known scholars, Paul Clement and Joshua Geltzer as they explore this very relevant constitutional issue, one that dates back to George Washington’s administration, in the building that housed the US Congress during his presidency!

Paul Clement served as the Solicitor General of The United States from 2005-2008 and is currently Partner in the law firm, Kirkland & Ellis LLP

Joshua Geltzer, is the Visiting Professor of Law and National Director of the Institute for Constitutional Advocacy and Protection.

This event is done in partnership with the Philadelphia Chapter of the World Affairs Council.
