"'For the Slave is Our Brother:' Christmas and the Anti-Slavery Movement" Special Exhibit

Women's Rights National Historical Park

Special Event
  • Every week on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 10:00 AM from December 10, 2025 to December 20, 2025
  • Free

During your visit to the historic Wesleyan Chapel, please be sure to see our special exhibit, "'For the Slave is Our Brother:' Christmas and the Anti-Slavery Movement."

This four panel series guides you through some the amazing connections between some of the traditions of the current celebration of Christmas, and their origins in the early Anti-Slavery campaigns. The five organizers of the First Women's Rights Convention all had experiences with the Anti-Slavery movement (as did many of the attendees), and would have known about and used these symbols and traditions in their yearly celebrations.

These panels are a returning exhibit, that is available during the month of December.
