Save the Date: Three public meetings on September 13 and 14, 2023, about the Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park General Management Plan draft

Pawtucket, Rhode Island – The National Park Service (NPS) invites the public to comment on a draft General Management Plan and an associated draft environmental assessment for the Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park from September 11-October 11, 2023.

The park was established in 2014 to preserve, protect, and interpret the nationally significant resources that exemplify the industrial heritage of the larger Blackstone River Valley. The park boundary includes the Old Slater Mill Complex in Pawtucket, RI; 85 acres of the Blackstone River State Park in Lincoln, RI; and four locally managed historic mill village districts in Ashton (Cumberland), RI, Hopedale, MA, Whitinsville (Northbridge), MA, and Slatersville (North Smithfield), RI. The new national historical park, with multiple partners, preserves resources and tells stories of the evolution of the Blackstone River Valley and its people. This planning effort began with the first public input taking place in January 2022.

Join the NPS at any of three public meetings to learn more about the plan, ask questions, and share your thoughts. All times are in eastern daylight time.
