Asiam American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Celebration
May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month. To celebrate and honor the cultural heritage of AANHPI communities, an event will be hosted at the Puʻukoholā Heiau National Historic Site Visitor Center this Friday and Saturday, May 10th and 11th. The event aims to educate visitors about the history and significance of kalo, a sacred and culturally important plant in the AANHPI communities. You will discover the significance of each part of the plant and how it is utilized in different cultures. The event is free and open to the public, and visitors of all ages are welcome to attend from 12 pm to 4 pm. The program will include interactive exhibits, educational talks, and hands-on activities that showcase the cultural significance of kalo.
