Missing Mansion: Exploring the Ruins of George Dorr's Summer Cottage

Acadia National Park

  • Every week on Monday at 2:00 PM from July 14, 2025 to September 29, 2025
  • Free

Join a ranger on an easy walk through the woods to see the ruins of the Oldfarm mansion and learn about George Dorr, the father of Acadia, and the creation of Acadia National Park.

Need to Know:

The parking lot for Compass Harbor Trailhead is very small, and there are no other nearby free parking accommodations. Please arrive to the program at least 15-minutes early to ensure your spot. Alternatively, paid parking is available in Bar Harbor, an easy 1-mile walk from the Compass Harbor Trailhead. If parking is full, the program is full. Consider taking the Island Explorer bus to this program (ask the driver to drop you off at Compass Harbor).
