Description
Grab your helmet, pump up your tires, and pedal along for Ranger Vince’s world-famous bike tour!
Pedal along the 7-mile, fully paved Anacostia Riverwalk Trail as we discover the deep history that has unfolded here. From the legacy of the Anaquashaton and the burning of the Navy Yard during the War of 1812 to the escape of 77 freedom seekers aboard the ship Pearl, the river’s role in early conservation efforts, and landmark Civil Rights moments like the Anacostia Pool Riot and Malcolm X Day. Meet at 9 AM at the intersection of Marion Barry Avenue and Anacostia Drive; we’ll return by 11:15 AM.
Bring your own bike or rent one from Capital Bikeshare, and don’t forget plenty of water to stay cool in the heat!
