Join Women’s Rights National historical Park in a free event to commemorate Amelia Bloomer on Saturday, November 21st!

As a prominent Seneca Falls resident for over a decade, Bloomer used her newspaper, The Lily, to promote reform issues. Known widely for the “Bloomer outfit” that she popularized, Bloomer’s work extended far beyond dress reform as she played a crucial role in both local and national women’s history following the 1848 Seneca Falls convention. Bloomer broke both social and physical barriers by moving to Iowa in 1855 and continuing her efforts for temperance and women’s suffrage on the western frontier.

At 1pm, sit in with Ranger Anna for a lecture discussing Bloomer’s transition from Seneca Falls to the Iowa frontier in 1855, as well as a special drop-in table talk about Bloomer’s influence on women’s fashion in the 19th century.  Amelia Bloomer coloring sheets and make-and-take crafts will be available all day, as well as a special America’s National Parks bookstore merchandise display!

All programming will be hosted at Women’s Rights NHP and is free and open to the public.
