Description
Are you up for the challenge? The Current River Challenge passes through three amazing parks: Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Echo Bluff State Park, and Current River State Park!
This hike is broken into three sections of 4 miles each. There are two connected 4-mile hikes, followed by 4 miles of floating (optional). The trail will pass through the rich forests, glades, and mountains of the Upper Current. In addition, the float views one of the prettiest stretches of the river.
The Round Spring to Echo Bluff State Park section will start at 9:00 am. From Echo Bluff, the group will leave for Current River State Park at 11:00 am. Finally, the float will begin (at Current River State Park) around 1:30 pm.
Hikers will stop for a break around noon. Bring a lunch and plenty of water. Water can only be refilled at Echo Bluff State Park, 4 miles into the hike. Sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, hats, and hiking boots are highly recommended. Anyone floating should also bring a drybag or waterproof gear.
For anyone who does not wish to float, there will be a shuttle to transport visitors back to the other locations. Anyone wishing to turn around at Echo Bluff State Park (4-mile mark) can also make use of the shuttle.
