Description

Kids to Parks Day is a national day of outdoor play celebrated annually on the third Saturday of May. The day connects kids and families with their local, state, and national parks and public lands through thousands of park events that promote discovery and exploration in the great outdoors. Shenandoah National Park welcomes kids of all ages to celebrate with our special kids-focused programs! Join us in celebrating the next generation of park explorers!

Programs

Our regularly scheduled programs begin this weekend (including kids-focused programs) at both visitor centers. Additionally, the following programs will be occurring on May 18. 

Dickey Ridge Visitor Center (mile 4.6)

Junior Ranger Touch Table - Explore hands-on with interactive nature displays at the Junior Ranger touch table. 12:00 noon - 4:00 pm. Meet outside in front of the visitor center weather permitting. Rain location is inside visitor center.

Byrd Visitor Center (mile 4.6)

Junior Ranger Touch Table - Explore hands-on with interactive nature displays at the Junior Ranger touch table. 11:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Meet outside in front of the visitor center weather permitting. Rain location is inside visitor center.
