Join us for a soulful tribute to Shirley Horn, the distinctly talented jazz singer and pianist known for elegant phrasing and intimate ballads. Though rooted in Washington, DC, Horn’s deep connection to the blues, space, and storytelling echos the spirit of New Orleans jazz.
Featuring a unique trio of Matt Hayden (piano), Gabrielle Fischler (violin), and Ranger Jade Perdue (voice), this program honors Horn’s legacy while recognizing the rich tradition of the Crescent City.
Ranger Jade Perdue is a New Orleans native who credits her hometown for shaping her artistic palette. Her background is rooted in classical, jazz, gospel, and R&B. She has performed with world-renowned musicians Herlin Riley, Amina Scott, Jason Marsalis, and many others. Her musical journey has led her to perform in New York City, Havana, and beyond. She blends history and storytelling with her interpretative skills leaving the audience with an unparalleled experience.
Matt Hayden is a New Jersey native is currently based in New Orleans. He’s a full-time musician, playing four nights a week at Pat O’brien’s dueling piano bar, in addition to writing and performing his own material.
Gabrielle Fischler is a violin player based in New Orleans. She currently works as a teaching artist and performer, serving on faculty at the Ellis Marsalis Center and maintaining a private studio of her own. Gabrielle plays regularly with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and the New Orleans Opera, and frequently collaborates with New Orleans based bands, recording artists, and composers, including Gabrielle Cavassa, Stephen Lands and Tristan Gianola.
