Description

The Women Who Mapped the Stars is the story of the pathbreaking achievements of five women astronomers who worked a century ago at the Harvard College Observatory.  The play was commissioned and first produced in 2018 by Central Square Theater.  Now adapted into a 50-minute version for schools, it will begin touring in Maine in 2022.  Joyce Van Dyke's plays put women center stage in stories about science and political conflict, and her work has received numerous commissions, productions, and awards.  She is a MacDowell Colony Fellow and a Huntington Theatre Playwriting Fellow and teaches playwriting and Shakespeare at Harvard Extension School.
