Description
The completion of the C&O Railroad in New River Gorge opened the region to industrialization. With the industrial boom came changes both to those that lived here before as well as the many immigrants who came to build new lives. Join a ranger to hear how the industrial boom of the gorge impacted those who built their lives here.
Meet at the Rend Trail parking lot off of Thurmond Road. This mostly shaded hike will follow a gently sloping dirt trail for 3 miles roundtrip with just about 100 foot elevation gain. Good shoes, water, sunscreen, and insect repellant are recommended.
