Description

Embark on a captivating journey through time as you learn about the geological history of No Thoroughfare Canyon.

Park volunteer, Roger Smith will lead a hike through No Thoroughfare Canyon while unraveling the secrets hidden within the layers of rock that bear witness to millions of years of Earth’s history.

Roger Smith is a recently retired geologist, hiking enthusiast, and current NPS volunteer.

Details:

  • Date & Time: May 8th at 8:30 AM
  • Location: From the east entrance, travel 0.2 miles, turn right. We will meet at the Devils Kitchen Picnic Shelter.
  • Registration: Risk forms must be signed prior to beginning the hike.
  • Distance: 3 miles roundtrip, plan on a 3 hour moderate to strenuous hike.
  • Bring: Water, snacks, layers and lunch if needed.
  • Note: Hike may be cancelled or postponed due to weather. Park passes are required. Carpooling is encouraged.
