Description

In the late 1890s, bicycles grew in popularity as a mode of transportation in the United States. Miliary officers wondered if bicycles could be used to replace horses. To test this idea, Lt. James A. Moss formed the 25th Infantry Bicycle Corps and recruited African American soldiers to join on several experimental rides. Join Park Ranger Roger Osario from Charles Young Buffalo Soldiers National Monument and discover the challenges and triumphs faced by the Buffalo Soldiers on their ride into history. Program takes place inside the Springfield Armory museum classroom.
