Description

Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie National Historical Park invites the public to commemorate the Battle of Sullivan's Island with special programs at Fort Moultrie on Saturday, June 29 from 10 am to 4 pm. Uniformed reenactors of the 2nd South Carolina Regiment will be in camp and providing information about life as a soldier in the American Revolution. Infantry demonstrations and artillery demonstrations will take place at the following times:  

10:00 am - Artillery Demonstration

11:00 am - Artillery Demonstration

1:00 pm - Infantry Demonstration & Children's Musket Drill (Wooden muskets available for kids)

2:00 pm - Artillery Demonstration

3:00 pm - Artillery Demonstration


The event commemorates the successful defeat of British land and naval forces by Patriot forces on June 28, 1776. This was a decisive victory for the Patriots in their fight for independence and prevented the British from gaining a foothold in South Carolina for another four years. This year marks the 243rd anniversary of the Battle of Sullivan's Island.
